Boston Cop Suspended For Gates Slur

MLK believed in equal rights for all. This is conservative trait not liberals. Liberals want to punish the successful and give to the poor. Liberals believe the govt knows whats best for you. Conservatives want the Govt to leave them the fuck alone.

MLK was a Conservative. I stand by this statement.

You need to learn American political and civil rights history is all I can tell you.

You are making the mistake of conflating party affiliation with political philosophy.

Anyone remotely familiar with the Civil War history, reconstruction and the civil right's movement knows (or should know) conservatives were as staunchly against civil rights advancements as they are now against other, present day civil rights advancements.

Southern conservatives were expressly hateful of what they called northern liberals joining with southern blacks to fight discrimination.

You sound about as ignorant as can be labeling someone who tried to advance a cause of civil rights a "conservative".:2 cents:

I am just an ignorant white person that clings to my guns and religion.

Too bad I have an entire book shelf on US History and the Constitution. Sigh.

Sighh...Try reading them. :dunno:Start with "Reconstruction" and how southern blacks identified with the party of Lincoln and The Emancipation Proclamation. Get to the point where many northern blacks began to move to the Democratic party after the FDR's New Deal....Then get to the part where Strom Thurmond ran for POTUS as a States Right Democratic Party (aka Dixiecrat) candidate in 1948 then moved to the Republican party paving the way for more southern conservatives to do so as the national democratic party became more liberal.

Suggesting a someone involved in the civil rights movement was a social conservative or in any way consistent with the present day incarnation of republican party is patently absurd.

While most progressives are in one party and most conservatives are in another party...party affiliation doesn't make you a conservative or liberal. You don't seem to understand that distinction.

MLK was definitely a RINO.

I never said he was a republican like today's republicans. He surely was not. Liberals have done everything within their power to keep blacks poor and in the inner cities and dependent on government. This is exactly the opposite of what MLK wanted. He wanted people to be individuals capable of free thinking and free speech, what conservative today want. Dont get conservative and republicans confused.

MLK wanted equality and have it recognized by the US Constitution. Today Affirmative action is not about equality as the liberals want people to think, its about quotas and control.

"Don't get conservative and republicans confused."?!???!?? :1orglaugh

(gasp, gasp!!!) I can't breathe!!! Sir, that's exactly where you are going wrong in this discussion.

Martin Luther King Jr. was the antithesis of the conservative movement marshaled against civil rights in the '60s. To suggest MLK jr. was a conservative because he was a republican by any stretch is a frank and stark ignorance of the political dynamics of that day.

Again, just as many southern, conservative whites were staunchly democrat back then (because of Abe Lincoln)....consistently so many politically active blacks were the polar opposite being liberal and republican. Liberal because it was liberals (irrespective of party affiliation) who were helping them fight for their rights.

Conservatism by nature is a philosophy at odds with advancement of new rights as it seeks to preserve status quo as one of it's core principles.

Hmmm belying your own sentiments eh? I believe the term that used was "jungle monkey"...But do tell us about this "porch monkey" business....

Here's the thing: Either we actually have free speech or we don't. Just because someone said something "offensive" doesn't mean they can't say it... if you can't, then the Speech Police need to enforce all restrictions equally.

You don't understand how and where "free speech" applies then. If for example you criticize a referee in sports....can you use "free speech" as a shield from sanction? Uh, no.

"Free speech" means you may not face legal jeopardy for expressing your views.

Unlike Iran for example where you can be jailed for stating something their government says is illegal.

He apparently used the city's email system in his official capacity as a cop.:nono:

That's the classical definition of Conservatism. Today's Movement Conservatives want to repeal the 20Th Century and restore the status quo of the 19Th Century. Back when everything was black and white and people knew their place in the social structure.

A Boston cop using a racial slur?

That's not news and it bears no discussion that hasn't already happened a million times here and around the world. And it never gets us nowhere.

That may be what SOME people consider "conservative." In general, I think it means adhering to the Constitution. And this is why labeling is dangerous... we all have different definitions of what these things are and mean.

How can you offer an ideology to someone in order to have them understand and join your cause if these things are different things to different people?

How can we ever communicate if there's no way to agree on what common words, terms, expressions and concepts mean except for what each individual thinks??

It depends on what the definition of "is" is?

That is a quote from a famous Liberal, I cannot seem to place his name...

Ok Ok.......So I know the phrase porch monkey, doesn't mean anything except I am aware of common racial slurs.
And jungle monkey isn't one, its jungle bunny.
Theres alot of them for all races, peckerwood.........
Either way just because one pertson said it in Boston doesn't mean a thing. Sticks and stones.
So I heard Obama was drinking Bud light, the worst beer on the planet.......Figures.
I wish he had drank a 40 of Colt 45.......that would have been cool.
