April 4, 2025. Day 94 Bible in a Year! May God bless us all in these troubled times. Praying for all the faithful readers and Father Mike for his helpful and holy commentary. Amen
Day 94 2025📖📖🙏🏻🙏🏻 We thank you for letting us belong to you. And we ask that you please give us the grace not only to have our minds and hearts shaped like yours, but also to let ourselves be chosen! Amen! Thank you Fr Mike I am praying for you and our community!!!🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💜
Dearest Father Mike, this Book of Judges is phenomenal and opens my eyes to what is happening in the world today. I keep you and all those reading with us in my prayers. Thank you Padre for your guidance and understanding of our reading over the past 94 days. May God continue to bless us with your presence. Amen 🙏✝️❤️
Bought some clematis this week to plant in the church garden, the white one was called John Paul 11 and the red one Rouge Cardinal, there is no escape😊
These old testiment people are really cruel but I gues we are the same just different weapons. May we grow in strength, intellegence and above all faith.
Lord Jesus, I humbly pray for myself, Father Mike, and all the people participating in the Bible-in-Year podcast. May your word take deep root in our hearts and transform our ways of thinking, deciding, and acting. May your grace open our ears to hear and understand the word of God in the Scriptures that we may revere and treasure both the Old and the New Testaments which God has prepared for all who desire to enter his kingdom. Send us your Holy Spirit to give us the Spirit of Knowledge, that we may know God and know ourselves. Give us the grace to approach the Word of God with meekness and humility, and with an eagerness to do everything God desires. Help us to be diligent students and faithful disciples of your Word. May our hearts never grow dull and may our ears never tire of listening to your voice. Amen.
I felt guilty that I hadn't subscribed. Then I looked at my subscriptions and there you were! Thank you for all that you do and for any of your staff who help you.
Always remember that emotional manipulation is a weapon the weak can wield with ease. Just look at the world we're living in. The Lord has been warning us for thousands of years.
Father Mike, brothers and sisters, I pray for you and please pray for me. I pick and choose what is needed in my own eyes. My self deception towards earthly things is great. LORD, strengthen me and forgive me, for I am weak, YOU are strong. Amen.
"Samson, what the heck, dude?"....dun dun dah!!!! Good job Mum, good job Michah. ..... another of Fr Mike's lines.....I can only imagine what a great read it would be if Fr Mike wrote his version of the Bible, questioning all these characters, telling off mum, reminding them of their roles and expressing frustration. Thank you Rev Fr Mike for the commentary and prayers and for making this podcast so prayerful.
Oh my goodness. That sounds so strange that we can deceive our own self - self deception? It’s not like we don’t have access to a priest to ask when we might have something wrong crossing through our mind, but doesn’t the fact that needing to speak to a priest about a potential wrong action we could tell us to not do it? I am far from perfect, but I know that most of my wrong acts are usually from my temper when my patience has worn so thin that I snap. I don’t know how we could actually lie to ourselves though. I’m going to have to think about this more, and probably talk it over with my prayer group. May our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit enlighten and bless us all.🙏
Day 94 takeaway..Samson the mighty man who's morals were in question from the beginning, as he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord by straying from his nazirite vow early in his rise of power. One would have thought that when his philistine wife, asked him what would it take to bind you down, that he might have been being set up? Oh how love is blind..strange how much she sounds like judus, betraying one for profit. But just as it is so, the Heavenly Father allows him to avenge them because they were not God's chosen..Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure..but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him..thanks be to God. Prayers for Father Mike and the BIY family 🙏❤
The following of our passions. Samson's journey represents our journey, particularly with bad habits/addictions/relationships. Never more clear is the mirror than during Lent when we are trying purposefully to push out a Delilah from our lives and replace her/him/it with Jesus. Addiction is something that eventually leads to or opens doors to our self destruction. This was a good reading. In societies without war I feel the issues of bad habits, interpersonal relations, and addictions are many times the biggest problems of society. This was a very good reading and I will have to come back and read up on Samson some more! ✨✨✨✨✨🤔✨✨✨✨✨ *Absorbing*
Very interesting reading and commentary Father Mike. Thank you for continuing to inspire us with these readings. We are a weak, fickle people who have a forgiving God. Thank you Lord Jesus for your mercy.
Thank you so much dear Father Mike. I am so blessed to have you read so beautifully the word Of The One True God. Even if I don't really understand it sometimes, I sleep better as I listen at night time. I am so glad I now know the story of Samson and Delilah and how strong Samsons desires were. Praise God for choosing broken fickle people like me. I loved the psalm 147 and God made it all the ice on a frozen day and the grass on the mountain. I love this. Praise God Praise His Holy Name Forever. It's the start of Holy week this week in real time. God bless you Father Mike and all people following this Bible in a Year .
Thank you Fr. Mike for helping us process and understand these difficult and disturbing moments and characters in the Bible. We too live in evil times with all of us going astray and then struggling back to God. Thank you Lord for Your mercy! We are nothing without You, just a big pile of mess. Blessed be the Lord forever, Who saves us all from our darkness and sin. All thanks and Glory be to our Lord and Creator. How blessed we are!
I now understand what is happening in the Church. This story reminds me of the Pachimama in the Vatican. Wow how history repeats itself. I don't think the hierarchy has learned anything from history. Brigolio reminds me of this Levit. Lord have mercy on us.🙏
April 3, 2023 Round Two Today's Meditation “At times, you may become discouraged when you pray because your sins seem to jump out at you. You may actually feel worse than ever. But don’t let that get you down. It’s actually a sign of progress because the closer you draw to the perfect holiness of God, the more your own imperfections will stand out against the pure light of His holiness…This explains why really holy people are often the last ones to admit it, because the holier they get, the less holy they feel.” -J. Augustine Wetta, O.S.B, p.91 God Bless you all!
Important stories that scare us and also remind us to stay strong in faith. Samson's story shows how we must not reveal secrets we're entrusted by God and others. Also shows how any toxic, illicit and one sided relationship will end with sufferings. It also reminds us that God will show mercy on those who repent even before death. There's no such thing as too late. Micah's story shows how we must not idolize good deeds or good nature (returning silver coins) and how we must also not pretend to forget the values or the rules that keep us safe or have been told to us by our ancestors as well as God. Mercenary Levi Priest for hire leads people in the false worship and willingly does what Aaron did by making a molten image of a calf. In all of these stories, God does not interact or interfere except in an exceptional situation such as Samson's last wish. Fr. Mike's analysis is very true. In the modern time, we often follow the crowd out of fear or out of greed. We must resist temptations and meditate on Christ and His teachings that lead us to God. Thank you so much for your work, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension. God bless you all and the fellow listeners
Samson's strength was not in his long hair. He knew his strength came from God. He was having sport with Delilah. In his mind his strength would never leave him. But by shaving his head he broke his Nazarite vow, so God withdrew His power from Samson. So as long as Samson stayed faithful to his vows ( no strong drink and not cutting his hair) God honoured His end of the promise. When Samson 's head was shaven he dishonoured his end of the vow hence the contract was not inplace anymore and God was free to withdraw His power from Samson.
Dear Father Mike, thank you so much for praying for us all, please know that we are also praying for you. Thank you for bringing the Bible closer to our hearts and for offering us these readings which help us understand the. Bible, which we by ourselves would often completely misinterpret or simply not understand.the deeper meanings.God bless you!🙏🙏🙏
I like how you break things down into segments so I can track where I'm at. God bless you always, Fr Schmitz and all priests worldwide. Protect them, dear God and place your mantel about them, Mother Mary. Sons of God protecting the children of God.
Love the little milestones/celebrations Fr. Mike mentions in his introductions. In today's case we reached the end of the third page of the BIAY Reading Plan. 😄
Dear Lord help us to make wise decisions ❤️🙏🏾 “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all men generously and without reproaching, and it will be given him.” James 1:5
Praise God for his Word and I pray for each of you to hear the message, Father Mike you are divinely inspired and your gift I pray will remain with you always- Lord please protect Father Mike from evil 🙏
God bless and keep you,, Father Mike for this lesson on the foolishness of Samson who trusted Delilah and revealed the secret of his strength which caused his downfall , yet God stilll bailed him out and gave him the strength to avenge his death and Delilah’ s treachery! In all of the stories, we mirror our own fickle- mindedness , yet God despite this pattern of infaithfulness always shows mercy and love to His people! Glory to God Who deserves our unfailing love and loyalty!
One of my favorite stories of the Bible, maybe it's because it's the one I remember the most. Thank you Father Mike and God Bless you. Praying for you and all who are following you on this Journey....
Very fitting reading for today I find sometimes we have friends or people that we talk to you and we try to let them know what is true and when they don’t listen we become uncharitable about it or we give in and just keep pushing with no results I think I was very much there This week
